Stained Glass Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • Cookie Dough
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Candy Centers
  • cups hard candies separated by color and finely crushed

Instructions
 

  • Unwrap and separate candies by color, crush finely, and set aside.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light, then beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Mix in dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  • Chill dough for 30–45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
  • Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness, cut shapes, then cut out centers.
  • Place cookies on baking sheet and fill centers with crushed candy.
  • Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden and candy is melted.
  • Cool completely on the baking sheet before removing.

Notes

• Crush candy finely for clear, even melting.
• Do not overfill centers or candy will bubble and overflow.
• Let cookies cool fully before moving to avoid cracked glass.
