Papaya Smoothie

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh ripe papaya chopped
  • 1 medium ripe banana
  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • ½ cup plain yogurt optional
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Ice cubes optional

Instructions
 

  • Cut papaya in half. Remove seeds. Peel and chop into chunks.
  • Peel banana and break into pieces.
  • Add papaya and banana to the blender.
  • Pour in milk and yogurt if using.
  • Add honey and vanilla if you want extra sweetness and flavour.
  • Add ice cubes if you want it cold.
  • Blend on high for 30 to 60 seconds until smooth.
  • Taste and add more honey if needed. Blend again briefly.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ripe papaya for the best flavour — it should be soft and sweet
  • Frozen papaya works great and makes it colder and thicker
  • Freeze banana chunks ahead of time for a thicker smoothie
  • Adjust thickness with more or less milk
  • Drink fresh for the best taste — smoothies separate when stored
  • Add spinach or protein powder for extra nutrition
  • Any milk works — coconut milk is the most tropical
