Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Mix-Ins:
  • ¼ cup fudge sauce swirled in
  • Chocolate chunks or brownie pieces

Instructions

  • Prepare the Base:
  • In a saucepan over low heat, whisk together milk, cream, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Heat until sugar dissolves and mixture is smooth (don’t boil).
  • Remove from heat, stir in melted chocolate and vanilla.
  • Chill the Mixture:
  • Pour into a Ninja Creami-compatible pint container. Let it cool to room temp, then cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Freeze the Base:
  • Once chilled, freeze the container for at least 24 hours, ensuring it’s completely solid.
  • Process in the Ninja Creami:
  • Insert the frozen pint into the Ninja Creami machine. Select the “Ice Cream” function.
  • If needed, use the “Re-spin” button for extra creaminess.
  • Add Mix-Ins (Optional):
  • Create a well in the center, add your mix-ins, then run the “Mix-In” function.

Notes

  • Dairy-Free Option: Use full-fat coconut milk or almond milk.
  • Flavor Boost: Add 1 tsp espresso powder for deeper chocolate flavor.
  • Sweetener Swaps: Try maple syrup or a sugar substitute.
  • Fun Twists: Add peppermint extract, bourbon, or cinnamon for variety.
