Crispy Parmesan Onion Ring Chips

Light, crunchy, and irresistibly cheesy, these onion ring chips deliver all the flavor of onion rings in a crisp, snackable form. Perfect for movie nights, appetizers, or topping burgers and casseroles.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large yellow onions sliced into thin rings
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes

Instructions
 

  • Peel onions and slice into thin, even rings; separate layers and pat dry.
  • Place rings in a bowl and lightly coat with olive oil.
  • In another bowl, mix parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, pepper, and salt.
  • Dip each ring in the parmesan mixture, pressing to help it stick.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Arrange rings in a single layer without overlapping.
  • Bake 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
  • Cool 5 minutes on the tray to firm up, then serve.

Notes

Freshly grated parmesan browns and crisps better than pre-shredded.
If chips soften, bake a few extra minutes to re-crisp.
Smoked paprika adds depth but can be swapped for regular.
Thinner onion rings = crunchier chips.
